Year Six Leading the Way

It has been another busy and exciting time in Year 6! In English, students have been developing their narrative writing skills, creating engaging stories with interesting characters, settings and plots. They have been exploring how to use descriptive language, dialogue and a range of language features to bring their stories to life. It has been wonderful to see the creativity and imagination students have shown in developing their own narratives.

In Maths, students have been investigating the important concept of multiplying and dividing numbers by powers of 10. They have been developing their understanding of place value and using this knowledge to solve a range of mathematical problems. In Inquiry, our focus has been on social justice, with students exploring fairness, equality and the needs of communities around the world. This learning came to life during our recent United Nations Assembly, where students represented different countries and shared information about what their country needs and what it does well. Students demonstrated excellent research, collaboration and presentation skills while developing a greater understanding of the diverse experiences of people around the world.
