NAIDOC Week Assembly

Students and staff came together for a special whole school assembly to celebrate NAIDOC Week, providing an opportunity to recognise and reflect on the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We were honoured to welcome Shelley Ware as our guest speaker. A proud Yankunytjatjara and Wirangu woman, Shelley is a respected media presenter, education consultant and advocate for embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and perspectives into schools across Australia.

Throughout her presentation, Shelley shared powerful stories, historical insights and personal experiences that encouraged students to think deeply about Australia’s past and the importance of understanding First Nations cultures. Her engaging and passionate presentation highlighted the value of listening, learning and continuing the journey of reconciliation through education.

The assembly was a meaningful opportunity for our school community to come together in the spirit of NAIDOC Week, reflecting on this year’s theme and celebrating the strength, resilience and rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We sincerely thank Shelley Ware for generously sharing her time, knowledge and experiences with our students and staff. Her presentation left a lasting impression and reinforced the importance of learning from First Nations voices.
