THE VILLAGE

The Village: Supporting Student Wellbeing Together
The Village: What Went Well?
As we come to the end of the term, The Village is a chance to pause and reflect on the progress our students have made, not just in their learning, but in their growth as young people.
Often, when we reflect, it’s easy to jump straight to what didn’t go well or what we’d like to improve next time. While that has its place, there is real value in starting somewhere different; by asking a simple but powerful question: “What went well?”
Shifting the Focus
Beginning with what went well helps students to:
Recognise their own effort and progress
Build confidence in their abilities
Develop a more balanced and positive mindset
Feel motivated to continue improving
This doesn’t mean ignoring challenges; It simply means giving equal weight to the things that are working.
A Simple Reflection to Try
As we finish the term, we encourage students and families to take a moment to reflect together:
What is something you’re proud of this term?
When did you show effort or resilience?
Who helped you along the way?
What is one thing that went really well for you?
Starting with these questions helps young people see their own growth and recognise the progress they’ve made.
Supporting Young People Over the Holidays
As we head into the holidays, we’re sharing a selection of resources to support young people’s wellbeing. While this time offers a chance to recharge, changes in routine and increased time online can also present challenges.
These resources cover areas such as mental health, online safety, routines, and emotional wellbeing. We encourage families to use them as a starting point for simple check-ins and conversations at home, helping young people stay supported and connected.
