On our Year 11 Environmental Science class recently visited the Melbourne Museum to explore the current impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss, and the inspiring ways young people are leading the charge toward resilience and action. Students explored exhibitions that connected directly to topics they’ve been studying in class, bringing their learning to life in meaningful ways. A highlight of the day was the Earth Day screening of “The Giants", a powerful documentary exploring the life and legacy of Australian environmentalist Bob Brown, woven together with the story of Australia’s ancient forests. Following the screening, we had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Q&A session, gaining advice as young environmentalists, and even meeting Bob Brown in person. After recently expressing concern about the future of our fast-changing planet, students left the excursion feeling motivated, hopeful and empowered with ideas for how they can make a difference.
“I think that documentary changed my life.” 💚
