Student Voice & Agency

Active Schools Project

Last term, we invited students to have their say on how we can make our school a more active place, supported by a $14,000 grant through the Active Schools Project. The funding is dedicated to improving opportunities for students to be active during class time, at lunchtime, after school and through active travel.

To gather student voice, we ran a “Food for Feedback” lunchtime event in Term 1, where students shared their ideas in exchange for a cookie or donut. The response was fantastic, with a wide range of thoughtful and creative suggestions.

A snapshot of the feedback shows strong interest in:

  • More sports clubs and structured activities

  • Improved playground spaces

  • Development of a running/athletics track

  • Increased access to sports equipment

  • Specific facilities such as volleyball courts and soccer goals

Students also suggested ideas like teacher versus student games, walking and running clubs and a gaga pit.

We will continue to build on this work in early Term 2, where student forum groups will be involved in deeper consultation to help prioritise ideas and shape how the funding is used.
