Writing

n writing, we are using information from our reading texts to develop character analysis paragraphs, using a writing tool called a single paragraph outline (SPO). We will continue to use the SPO throughout the term when writing factual recounts, connected to our novel Dirrarn and non-fiction texts. Later in the term, we will be exploring creative writing in the form of non-fiction narratives and poetry, where we will continue to refine our use of the narrative structure and literary techniques.
Throughout the term, we will be looking at creating more interesting writing by expanding our sentences to include more relevant information. We will continue to develop our use of coordinating conjunctions, topic sentences and summary sentences in our written pieces to effectively structure our ideas and include relevant information. Spelling will continue to be taught using morphemic understanding and rules related to base-word, prefix and suffix knowledge.
We will continue to engage in handwriting and Typing Club throughout our literacy sessions to develop both our handwritten fluency and typing speed and accuracy.
