NEVR Youth Concert

20 EHPS students from our Chamber Choir joined the Primary School Choir and performed at the 2026 NEVR Youth Concert ‘Legends & Lore’ on Wednesday 13 May at Melbourne’s prestigious concert venue Hamer Hall.

This concert was a spectacular evening showcasing the talents of music students from over 200 primary and secondary government schools within the North Eastern Victoria Region in a range of large ensembles including the Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Secondary Choir and Primary School Choir.

On Wednesday 13 May, 20 selected Year 6 students performed at Hamer Hall in a mass choir for the North Eastern Victoria Region (NEVR) Youth Concert. We attended two rehearsals at Kalinda Primary School which was very fun and our excitement grew as we were getting closer to the performance. We had our technical rehearsal on the day of the concert; we felt so amazed and little bit nervous standing on the stage.

The weeks leading up to the concert, students participating rehearsed for many hours as a mass choir of 178 students from over 10 different schools. Over these days we made some new friends collected unforgettable memories together.

On the day of the performance, our hearts were racing, adrenaline was pumping, but we stayed calm on the outside. The performances before and after our piece where beautiful, and the music was surreal. When it was finally our time to sing, we walked on proudly, and sang our four breathtaking songs, one of them was even written by our very own conductor. We had lots of fun, and performed with expression and flair.

Overall, we were honoured to have experienced this wonderful opportunity, and we would like to thank Miss Cordell and Mr Perini, who supported and cheered us on throughout our performance. We are grateful to our parents for driving us there. We had a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we encourage, others to give it a go, to increase singing skills, and have fun doing what you love with all your friends.
