Monash Teddy Bear Hospital

Year 1 students were excited to bring their teddies and soft toys to school for one special day for the Teddy Bear Hospital on Tuesday 5 May. Monash University medical students came out to visit the school to educate the Preps and Year 1s about healthy living and to alleviate the ‘white coat anxiety’ children may feel when visiting health professionals. They guided the children and their teddy bear friends through various educational stations including role-play scenarios that simulate experiences such as calling an ambulance, visiting a GP and learning about asthma devices. We also reinforced EHPS's health education curriculum by encouraging good hygiene, healthy eating habits and physical activity.

The children learned about:

  • Germs and the importance of washing hands
  • How to make a plaster cast for a broken bone
  • How X-Rays work
  • What happens in a surgery
  • Healthy Eating
  • How to call 000 in an emergency
  • Asthma puffer use and what asthma is
  • Visiting a GP (Doctor)

Marvellous Minibeasts

As part of the Year 1 learning on Minibeasts, we are excited to let you know we will have a very special 'Marvellous Minibeasts' incursion on Tuesday 2 June. This will be a wonderful hands-on experience for the students to develop deeper into their Integrated unit of 'Minibeasts'. Each Year 1 class will take part in their own individual session and be involved in a minibeast role-play, minibeast features and adaptations, butterfly and other minibeast feeding and handling and a bug examination with microscopes.

The event notice will be published soon in Compass. Please process consent and/or payment by the due date.
