Year 2

Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead Excursion
Our Integrated Unit in Term 2 is Olden Days. As part of studying life in the past, Year 2 students will be visiting the Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead in Wandin North:
- 2BH & 2RO next Tuesday, 19 May
- 2L & 2LB next Friday, 22 May.
There’s lots to see and explore, including the former milking shed, the slab kitchen on the original house site, the museum collection in the remodelled former farm buildings (which is home to over 5,000 eclectic objects, from egg whisks and butter churns to wedding dresses and pig scrapers), plus the historic dairy and chapel. Students will be engaging in a range of activities through rotations.
Students are encouraged to dress up in 'olden day' clothes for the day to really 'immerse' themselves in the experience.
Students will need to bring a small backpack with their snack, lunch and drink bottle (all named) on the day.
If you have any questions - please contact your classroom teacher.
We’re looking forward to a day of fun exploring 'life in the past!'
Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands excursion
Our Year 2 students are looking forward to attending the excursion to Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands on Tuesday 16 June and Friday 19 June 2026 (two classes on each day; details to be provided soon). Throughout the day, students will explore the wetlands and participate in hands-on learning experiences focused on living things, habitats and the importance of water in our environment.
This excursion will provide a wonderful introduction to our Term 3 inquiry theme on the water cycle, helping students build an understanding of how water moves through our world and why it is such an important resource for all living things.
A Compass event notice will be published closer to the date.
