Wheels 4 Wishes

On Thursday 5 September, the whole school is participating in our community fundraising event Wheels 4 Wishes.

The event is being driven by our Level 6 leaders to support Sean Bell in his record run around Australia and his quest to raise $1.4 Million for Make A Wish. Make A Wish is a not for profit organisation who strive to grant the wishes of very sick kids. Sean recently broke the world record in his run of 13,383km in 159 days as he circumnavigated Australia. When he spoke to our level 6 student earlier in the year, he challenged them to have big goals and to strive to make a difference in others’ lives.

The student leaders have decided on 3 different challenges for Jells Park students.

  • 2.5km scoot, walk or ride through Jells Park and back to school (Foundation – Level 6)
  • 11km ride via bike tracks to Burwood Hwy and back  (Level 2- Level 6)
11kms
11kms
  • 32km ride via bike tracks to Bayswater and back (Level 4- Level 6)

Please note, parents and/or carers are invited to also participate in one of the challenges with your child(ren), whilst we also need a number of formal parent helpers to assist as marshalls before completing the challenge with the community. If you can assist as a formal parent helper please email me (d.jenkins@jpps.vic.edu.au) as soon as possible

It is a free dress day and students are encouraged to wear blue to represent Make A Wish. There will be a special Subway lunch available on the day. Orders will be made online and distributed by our Parent Council and Level 6 students. Further information and ordering details will follow.

Once students have returned to school, the middle session will then be a ‘WISH’ session. A range of activities both in the classrooms and outside will be running and all students will have the opportunity to attend the activity(ies) of their ‘WISH’. There will also be a special subway lunch with details to be sent via email.

The purpose of the event is to challenge ourselves and also to raise funds for Make A Wish. Tax deductable donations can be made via this link https://fundraise.makeawish.org.au/s/15844/7163   OR scan the QR codes on the posters at school or to the right of this text. We encourage all students and families to support Make A Wish and Sean Bell and lets help change kids lives.
