Independent Education Union Excellence in Art Design Awards

The award presentation for the 2026 IEUA Excellence in Art Design Awards took place in Week 8 at the Queensland Multi-cultural centre, Kangaroo Point. The theme for the 2026 awards was “Reflections” and the outstanding creativity of two of our students was recognised at the presentation. Congratulations to Antwone Davidson-Alberts in Year 10 who received the “Award of Excellence” in the First Nations Category and Felix Katter in Year 6, who was awarded Highly Commended in the Year 5 & 6 category.

Design Tracks

Year 11 students, Anthony Yunkaporta and Kila De Busch recently took part in a 3 day residency for First Nations students, “Design Tracks”, where they had the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals and mentor artists, explore contemporary art and design practices, and develop their creative thinking through hands-on workshops and collaborative projects. As part of the program, they also travelled to Stradbroke Island where they met with Elders,  visited Point Lookout, walked along a section of North Gorge and visited the Quandamooka Arts and Culture Centre.
