ATHLETICS
Congratulations to the 14 students who represented our school at the Ovens and Mitta Division Athletics in Wangaratta on the Friday of the first week of Term 4. It was fantastic to see so many of our students take to the track and field, challenge themselves and compete against students from other schools across the division. All 14 students competed exceptionally well, showing great determination, resilience and a willingness to give every event their best effort. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves and represented our school, both on and off the track. Well done to all 14 students on a wonderful effort!
We are especially proud to announce that five students progressed to the Hume Region Athletics on Friday, 16 October. Congratulations to Poppy, Indi, Harry, Hunter and Mitchell on this fantastic achievement!
At the Hume Region Athletics, all five students competed extremely well and once again represented our school with pride. They demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, professionalism and a positive attitude throughout the day, showing respect for their fellow competitors and giving their best in every event.
Well done to all students involved in both events! Your efforts, achievements and the way you represented our school are something to be very proud of. We look forward to seeing what you achieve next!
BASKETBALL
On Thursday, 15 October, we took one senior girls team and one senior boys team to compete in the Ovens and Mitta/Hume Region Basketball Tournament. Both teams represented our school exceptionally well, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and a fantastic attitude throughout the day. Most importantly, all students had a wonderful time, enjoyed playing alongside their friends and made the most of the opportunity to get out on the court!
Our senior girls team faced some tough competition throughout the tournament. With many of the girls having netball experience, they were able to transfer some of their existing skills onto the basketball court. Their teamwork and ability to adapt to a different sport were fantastic to see, as they came away with a well-earned win and some very close games.
Our senior boys team also faced some strong opposition and did a fantastic job holding their own, narrowly missing out on progressing to the next stage. While it was a close finish, the boys can be extremely proud of the way they competed, stuck together as a team and represented our school.
All students should be incredibly proud of their efforts, as we certainly are! It was fantastic to see everyone supporting one another, displaying great sportsmanship and, most importantly, having fun.
A special thank you to Sharni, Nick, Leanne, Mrs Young and our two FCJ refs for giving up their time to support and assist our students throughout the day. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Well done to both teams on a fantastic day of basketball! 🏀
