Prayer & Catholic Identity

Prayer of Saint Joseph
Our school over the coming weeks is learning about the traits of St. Joseph.
St. Joseph is someone that we look up to and model our behaviour on. Our school was named after St. Joseph by the Catholic community of Benalla in 1878. We can keep the spirit of St Joseph alive in our school by showing these traits:
-love and care
-strength and courage
-patience and trust
-hard work and dedication
-humility and obedience.
Please look out for the display on St. Joseph in our school foyer.
Catholic Identity Awards
At our week 2 assembly Scarlet O., Johnathan T. and Gauri S. received Catholic Identity Awards for their wonderful efforts in sharing the spirit of Jesus in our school. Congratulations to these Year 1 and 2 students for putting the Catholic Social Teaching - 'Everyone has the right to work and contribute to their communities - Participation' into action.
Scripture in the Classroom
Did you know that each unit of religion that the students study at St. Joseph's has key scriptures that help them to develop understandings, concepts and skills. At times your child's teacher will read the scripture to them, but on other occassions they will be required to find the relevant scripture in the bible and read it to themselves.
The bibles that we use in our classrooms can be seen below.
Wonder with Scripture
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10
I wonder how being still can help us know God?
How can we incorporate family time that embraces stillness, rest and play? How can we actively seek God as we rest and enjoy one another?
