KLA Feature - Languages

We congratulate our Year 12 students who have completed challenging language courses online. They have already completed their final HSC speaking exams, as well as trial exams, and are preparing for their final HSC written exam. We wish you all of the best! 

Our Stage 5 Japanese language students have recently had fun creating short films to enter into two language competitions. Using their language skills, they created films with the theme of “change” and they had to include flowers and a mask. They came up with some very creative storylines. 

Year 7 are also developing their language skills by creating their own restaurant role plays. Students are learning the language used by wait staff and also the language used by customers so they can create a true to life restaurant experience. 

Year 7 also had a whole lot of fun learning how to do tricks on the kendama - a traditional Japanese wooden skill toy made of a handle, a cross-piece with cups, and a ball connected by a string. Elijah & Luke from Kendama Australia taught everyone the basic moves - catching the ball on the big cup, the small cup, the base cup and, finally, on the spike. Some students were even able to flip the ball to make a combination trick finishing on the spike but no-one was able to move as fast as Elijah who is ranked 32nd in the world! 

Finally, it is that time of the year again when we are actively looking for at least two families in our College community who can host two students from Japan in Term 1 of 2027. Airi and Chiho, from our sister school, Tokyo Junshin, will be spending eight weeks at CCC experiencing Australian school and family life and improving their English.
