Keeping Our Students Safe, Connected and Leading with Purpose
It has been another wonderful and busy week at Caroline Chisholm College, and as we look towards the final weeks of Term 3, I would like to share a number of important updates with our College community.
Supporting Our Students’ Digital Safety
Earlier this week, families received information via Compass from Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) regarding changes to the way student images are managed and presented across our digital platforms. As a College, we strongly support this work and the continued focus on protecting the online and digital safety of our students.
As part of this change, images will progressively be migrated to formats that are less student-identifiable. This is an important step in ensuring that we continue to provide a safe and responsible digital environment for our young women, while still celebrating the wonderful learning, achievements and experiences that take place across our College. We appreciate that families may notice some differences in the way images are presented as this transition occurs.
Changes to Compass from Term 4
From the beginning of Term 4, parents and carers will also notice some changes to the way our Compass portal triggers notifications and to some of the naming conventions used within the system.
These changes are part of a CSPD-led system rollout designed to ensure that all Catholic schools across the Diocese are using Compass in a consistent manner. This consistency will ultimately benefit all stakeholders: our students, parents and carers, staff and CSPD, by creating a more streamlined and consistent experience across our schools.
Caroline Chisholm College is one of the final groups of schools to undertake this transition, with CSPD progressively implementing the changes across designated groups of schools.
One of the more noticeable changes for our families will be the renaming of Afternoon Detentions and Lunchtime Detentions. To more accurately reflect the purpose and work undertaken by students during these sessions, they will now be known as:
- Afternoon Reflective Workshops
- Lunchtime Reflective Workshops
The change in terminology reflects the restorative and reflective nature of these sessions and the opportunities they provide for students to consider their choices, responsibilities and the impact of their actions.
As with any new system implementation, there may be a few bumps along the way. We appreciate your patience and understanding should a notification, message or naming convention appear incorrectly during the transition period. Our staff will work closely with CSPD to address any issues as they arise and ensure the transition is as smooth as possible. A further letter providing additional information about this migration will be sent home via Compass next week.
Celebrating Our Student Leaders
Amidst these important operational updates, it has also been a particularly special week at Caroline Chisholm College as we celebrated and commissioned our new student leaders.
Our commissioning ceremony was a wonderful occasion, made even more meaningful by having our leaders’ parents, carers and family members join us to celebrate this important moment in their daughters’ lives. It was a privilege to witness these young women publicly accept the responsibility of leadership and commit themselves to serving our College community.
Leadership at Caroline Chisholm is not simply about wearing a badge or holding a title. It is about action, service, courage and influence. Our student leaders have an important role to play in shaping the culture of our College and in ensuring that the values we hold dear particularly tolerance, courage and faith are evident in the way we live and learn together.
We are incredibly excited about what this young group of women will bring to their leadership throughout the remainder of this year and into 2027. We look forward to seeing their ideas become actions, their voices inspire others and their leadership contribute positively to the sisterhood that makes Caroline Chisholm College such a special community.
I thank our families for their continued partnership, support and understanding as we navigate these changes together. Most importantly, I thank our students for the way they continue to embrace opportunities to learn, grow and lead.
There is much to look forward to as we approach the final weeks of Term 3 and prepare for an exciting Term 4.
