Ms Swain's News
Reservoir High warmly welcome Tom, our new Koorie Educator. We are excited and privileged to have Tom join our Reservoir High community in the role of the Koorie Educator. Tom will be working alongside myself to provide opportunities for all students and staff to gain a better understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, perspectives, history, and culture.
Hi, I’m Tom Jackson. I’m of Yorta Yorta and Djadjawurung descent. I have previous experience working with community through a range of different roles over many years, but this is my first time working in this area. Currently, I am undertaking a Bachelor of Education at ACU with my teaching disciplines being History and Geography. I’m at the school 5 days a week and am looking forward to working with all the students and their families. Please feel free to reach out at any time if you would like to have a chat.
Campfire Conversation
This term, we held our inaugural Campfire Conversation which was facilitated by our KESO Barry Firebrace, Kaelun Brown and Wirajuri artist Elijah. The Campfire Conversation included a very special Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony conducted by Kaelun, sharing of food, stories, successes and failures and bush botanical drawings. We thank all parents who joined us in the conversation and look forward to always improving and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
