Hockey

We have had a real hockey focus over the last few weeks of school, with both the ACC Girls and Boys Carnivals, along with the Years 7-9 SSWA Ross Meadows Shield. Our ACC Girls representative team played on Thursday 13 June and finished fourth in their pool with victories and a few draws. They were accompanied and coached by Mr Adrian Sims who said they all played amazingly.

Next up were our ACC Boys who played on Thursday 20 June. The team were undefeated all day and were crowned the ACC Champions after defeating CBC Fremantle in the grand final 4 to 1. Our team was accompanied and coached by Mr Cameron Tremayne who was extremely proud of the huge team effort the boys displayed throughout the day.

The following day it was our junior students in Years 7 and 9 to take to the turf at the SSWA Ross Meadows Shield carnival. This is a mixed competition and was a day full of sporting fun. We had enough interest to take two teams one who played in Pool A and the other in Pool B. I am pleased to announce that one of our teams finished fourth in their pool and the other finished second to progress to the bronze medal final. This team unfortunately lost their final, however proudly finished in fourth place overall. These teams were accompanied and coached by Miss Ruth O’Donnell and myself. We were both so impressed with the skills, team comradery and positive support for each other shown on the day from all players.

Athletics

Athletics training started Tuesday this week and I was pleased with the impressive numbers. Training will run every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:00am-8:00am in the lead up to the ACC B Division Athletics Carnival on Thursday 19 October.

Our pre carnival events commenced this week which consist of the 1500m, Discus and Javelin competitions. The weather has not been on our side throughout the week and I want to applaud all students who have taken part in these events.

Rugby

Next Thursday 4 July our First XV Rugby team will compete against Scotch College in our annual rugby match. This team have been training hard throughout this term to prepare for this game with will be played at John XXIII College. The game is scheduled for a 4:10pm start and supporters are welcome to come and watch the game.

NAS (Northern Associated Schools)

The last rounds of NAS competitions ran this week. All teams finishing in the top four positions will progress to finals. Thank you to all our dedicated students for competing in our Term 2 NAS teams this year. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you all grow as a team and seeing your successes throughout the term.
