Teacher Professional Practice Days

The Department of Education believes the most important way to improve student outcomes is to develop and improve the skills of our teachers. To ensure the Department supports the learning and development of not only students, but teachers too, it is committed to providing professional learning opportunities for the entire teaching workforce.

As part of the Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2017, teachers receive one day per term where they are out of the classroom for the day and able to focus on improving strategies for the delivery of high quality teaching and learning. Each of your child’s teachers will spend four days per year further developing their skills in areas that are aligned to the school priorities. Your child will directly benefit from these improvements in their daily learning.

On these days, alternative teachers are provided with learning plans for each lesson that equip them to assist your child with their learning needs. The professional practice days are scheduled well ahead of time in order to minimise the impact on students.

Building Works

Classrooms in B-wing have been returned to the school. It is exciting to see the new developments and for students to have access to improved teaching spaces. The work on the old library continues and this is also rapidly taking shape.

During a site meeting at school this week it was confirmed that asbestos will be removed once again this weekend.  Again, the asbestos will be removed on Saturday and Sunday and so the school site cannot be accessed by anyone during this time. 

The builders are currently planning to remove asbestos from Friday 12th April through to Friday 19th April in the school holidays.  They may also be removing asbestos on the weekend of 30th and 31st March, but this is yet to be confirmed.
