Attendance

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day.

School participation helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values which set them up for further learning and participation in their community. Children and young people who regularly attend school and complete Year 12 or an equivalent qualification have better health outcomes, better employment outcomes, and high incomes across their lives.

Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future.

There is no safe number of days for missing school. Every Day Counts.

Each day a student misses puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes.

Families will receive an SMS at 10.00am if their child is marked absent in either Tutorial or Period 1. We encourage families to have the discussion around the importance of turning up to all classes on time – this expectation is no different to attending TAFE or University and when working as an apprentice or CEO of a large company.

Our teachers will endeavour that all rolls are markedly accurately so that families receive the most up to date information in relation to student attendance at school.

Our House System will celebrate student attendance at all House assembles and encourage students to be prepared for all classes.

To enable our school to achieve our motto of ‘Everybody Warrnambool Student Thrives’ we would ask that families support our staff to ensure all students are in all classes for 100% of the school year.
