Athletics Carnival

On the back of the Warrnambool College swimming sports, the staff and students headed off to Brauerander Park for the annual Athletics Carnival. We were once again blessed with good weather for the day and this ensured fierce competition between the houses in every event. The track events were of particular interest, with Mr Matheson providing fantastic running commentary of each heat. The 100 meter events once again provided some nail biting races and some fantastic crowd support.

The field events enjoyed high participation rates and the teachers also had some fantastic set ups, creating a party like atmosphere. There were even some record breaking feats on the day. Maddison Chessire broke a 10 year old record, throwing a new best distance in the 15 year old girls Javelin.

Jesse Suter broke a 2016 record in the 12-13 boys discuss, throwing an impressive 41.17m, and also breaking the 12-13 boys long jump record with a distance of 5.03m. He also broke the boys 12-13 200m record with a time of 26.24.

Kailyn Edney broke the 18-20 girls 800m run record with a time of 3:02.20.

The end result was tight, but Flagstaff came out on top in the end. A fantastic day by all involved.

A huge thank you to all the staff who helped set up, run and pack up on the day. These events don’t run without your support.
