GD Cross Country

A full report will appear from our Captains in this edition of the newsletter; however, it certainly was a great day for the school on Monday, winning the Glenelg Division Cross Country. This means that College has won back to back “GD Triple Crowns” for the third time in the school’s and GSSSA and Glenelg Division History (dating back since 1959) – winning the GSSSA/GD Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country in the same year!

What a fantastic achievement in our 150th year! Congratulations to our most committed and talented students who always represent the school with pride and give 100% for themselves and the school. Their impeccable behaviour and social skills also make them stand out from the crowd.

Thanks to all staff, coaches, captains, volunteers and parents who develop their abilities, help organise, support and encourage these students to do their best.

Swimming

Some of our elite swimmers had the opportunity to compete in the “Victorian All Schools Swimming Associations Carnival” as part of the ICCES association team. This event was held at MSAC on Monday night and swimmers from all the best sporting associations across Victoria were competing. Results are still to be published; however, I know that our students represented themselves, our school and the association extremely well. Despite the cold pool and challenging conditions, they proved themselves to be extremely competitive. Congratulations to the following students - Lachlan Rees, Chloe Adams, Will Merrin and Liam Bilenkij. Thanks to the parents who travelled up and assisted with the running of the carnival also.

Football

School football also kicks off next week with our Boys First 18 playing in the Herald Sun Country Cup competition at Pedrina Park on Tuesday, playing against the bigger local schools. The Year 9 and 10 boys team will play in their annual round robin at Pedrina Park on 25 May.

ICCES Athletics

The ICCES Athletics Carnival will be held next Thursday at Albert Park Lakeside stadium in Melbourne. Our athletes have been training hard with coach Rohan Garfoot at lunchtime and I am positive those students attending will reap the awards with their personal best performances. A full report will appear in a future newsletter edition.
