VCAL

On Thursday, 24th November, both the Year 11 & 12 VM Class competed an RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) Course which was suggested by the Senior VCE VM Class of 2023 and eventually planned and set up by our VCAL Leader, Mrs Scott.

We chose to hold this event because we all agreed that this would greatly benefit us in the future and help us with job applications and such. The course was very informational, as our teacher Bill was very enthusiastic and explained things in great detail for us, answering any questions we had. Some facts that specifically stood out to me were the fine of $21,000+ AUD for Licensees if they served alcohol to a minor or intoxicated person and the employer’s fine which can be up to $3,500. I didn’t realise that people could be charged so much money.

Towards the end of the course we were given a booklet assessment with questions which we completed as a group that were related to what we learnt; such as fines/penalties, when to refuse to serve alcohol, the effects of intoxication, and so on. I think this would show potential employers dedication and make us stand out from other applicants in certain jobs and I would recommend anyone take the course as it is useful knowledge and can get you a good certification for when you turn 18.
