Textiles in Action

Recently the Year 8 Textiles students completed their projects. One class was very proud to complete their skirts. Students learnt how to thread and use a sewing machine and also learnt processes like sewing a seam, making a casing for elastic, and sewing a hem. Some of the students embellished their skirts with lace or ribbon.

Year 10 Fashion Workshop students completed slip dresses and a folio. This required the students to cut the fabric on a bias and to make bias binding to finish the dresses. It is amazing how one pattern could look so different by using different fabrics and modifying it a little.
