Mary Mackillop Feast Day - Tuesday 8th August

Mary MacKillop, also known as Saint Mary of the Cross, was an Australian Catholic nun and the co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. Born on January 15, 1842, she dedicated her life to providing education to children in rural and disadvantaged areas of Australia. Despite facing challenges and conflicts with church authorities, she persevered in her mission of serving the needy. Mary was canonised as a saint by the Catholic Church on October 17, 2010, and her legacy continues to inspire people around the world.

At STMM, we celebrated Mary Mackillop’s feast day by participating in class liturgies. We are inspired by her tenacity, determination and strength, particularly through her quote “Never see a need without doing something about it”.
