Bradman Reflection

Bradman Reflection

The Bradman Cluster has seen a lot happen in semester 1, With our students having participated in all activities CRC Sydenham has had to offer. Our leaders got involved in the promotion of Harmony Day and other social justice events while our athletes made it big in the SACCSS sports events held throughout the semester, including but not limited to, cross country, cricket, netball and basketball. A large portion of our students also took part in the 2019 College Production, Les Miserables, showcasing their talent both onstage and backstage for the biggest musical a school can put on. Bradman also gave it our all during cluster sports, taking the Grand Final for the first term of Kickball and winning the Cluster Spirit award thanks to our large numbers of participants. All this effort lead to us placing 1st in the running for the college’s O’Reilly Shield, so we can only hope to maintain that spot throughout the rest of the year.

The Bradman year 11’s travelled to inland Anglesea for our 2019 annual retreat. We took part in various engaging activities, from high ropes to mountain bike riding and archery, that allowed us to bond with people we hadn’t had the opportunity to get to know yet. We concluded our first night with a prayer, trivia and mindful colouring after a day that challenged us all both physically and mentally. In having the opportunity to reflect on our experiences we learnt more about ourselves and those around us. The next day we listened to an inspiring personal experience told by a remarkably strong woman who overcame her hardship with perseverance and wielded immense strength to move forward and continue to see the world around her in a positive light. She bravely shared her faith and strong relationship with God throughout her experience to recovery which has inspired us to look to God for strength. The camp as a whole has strengthened our cluster spirit and has allowed us to bridge closer friendships with those in our homegroup.

Of course, semester 1 is not completely over yet, with the CRC Sydenham Feast Day coming up around the corner. As a cluster we are providing a mouth-watering range of stalls for the day, including waffles, brownies, spiders and a bake sale while also providing a festival store for students to all get their party on. To top it off Bradman 2 is hosting a raffle with some great prizes to be won for those that enter! Although a lot has happened, 2019 is not over yet so as a cluster we will continue to put our best foot forward and strive to follow our principles of integrity, leadership and excellence!
