More than a word.  Reconciliation takes action.

We’re officially at the half-way mark of Term 2 and our students are fully immersed in the action of the school year.  In the classroom, we’ve been so impressed by the work ethic and determination of the students: everyone tried their very hardest in NAPLAN, and as soon as the final test was over on Thursday morning it was back into the normal classroom program.  The winter chill has certainly set in too – although the Kathmandu jackets sure help with this!

This week we come together to celebrate National Reconciliation Week.  This year’s theme is “More than a word. Reconciliation takes action.”  What a great challenge for us all to consider.  Words are very important, but ultimately it is our actions that will create change, bring people together and create a more reconciled Australia.

In our MITS community we are blessed to have so many people taking action every day in support of our students.  Our families, community schools, staff, volunteers, partner schools, donors and many more are committing to action to provide choice and opportunity to our students and to contribute to a more reconciled Australia.  And of course, every day our students take action to do the same – pursing education, sharing their stories, contributing to our communities.

This Reconciliation Week, let’s all consider what action we can take, and celebrate the many actions already taken each day.
