Year 7 Boys Basketball

On Tuesday 2nd of August the year 7 boys went out to represent Wyndham Central College and compete in the interschool basketball tournament, which was held at eagle stadium. The boys played matches against Manor Lakes College, Hoppers Crossing Secondary College, Dohertys Creek P-9 College and Tarneit P-9 College. Unfortunately, the boys weren’t able to secure a win on the day, despite this the boys still played hard, had fun and continued to display the college values throughout the day. Stand out performers on the day include Hunter Niezgodka, Jayden Mclean-Doughty and Prince Sebastiao.

Year 8 Boys and Girls Basketball

Year 8 Boys and Girls played at Eagle Stadium, both teams being suited up and ready for a good day’s play.

The girls started out with a win first up, with Chelsie Butler scoring 18 points and working hard defensively also. Lilyana Lopez, Abbey Grainger and Samantha Raka being formidable forces against their opponents defensively. The girls just lost in a nail biter for their second and final game. Ultimately placing 2nd in their pool.

The boys started out strong with a win first up, seeing each player working cohesively both offensively and defensively. Harley Nisbet, Gabriel Nabung and Bentley Veitch poured in 10 points each, whilst Hamish Nibloe, Josh Thomas, Charlie Chamberlain, Elijah Pure and Saamir Amie were elite on defense.

The boys won 2 out of their 4 games. They fought hard and showed resilience against a great Manor Lakes team and will be ready for next year as we hunt to bring it back home!

Under 16 NRL Rugby Team

The under 16 girls rugby tag team went out to Seabrook Reserve this week. They played 5 games and qualified for the grand final. Although they finished as runners up for the day, the team was energetic, organised and focused, utilising great movement of the ball across field to create space for the wingers as well as some outstanding runs by the middle pack that lead to multiple tries. Well done to the U16’s girls team. What a fantastic day of rugby!
