Student Representative Council

Message from our Student Voice Captains

Hello! We are Mitchell and Matt, and we are the 2023 Student Voice Captains. We are very excited to be working with the Student Council and the Karoo community to plan exciting events for Karoo this year.

The role of the Student Representative Council (SRC) is to represent all students at Karoo, by listening to everyone's voices and ideas no matter who they are. We have meetings regularly to discuss all things Karoo. We organise and plan events for the Karoo students, and we decide these events by making sure everyone uses their voice. We ask for their ideas, and then we vote collaboratively on what event we would like to do for each school term.

There are many worthy causes and events that the students at Karoo could support and participate in, but unfortunately, we cannot take-part in them all. We discussed many amazing charities and events during our first meeting and voted on the ones we wanted to support. We have decided on:

  • A pyjama day to support our sponsor child named Jean, on the last day of Term 1.
  • Selling Anzac Day Badges in the last two weeks of this term.
  • Collecting bread-bags through the Wonder White 'Recycle and Earn' Promotion. This helps us earn some free sports equipment for the students but to also help the environment.
  • Organising a wellbeing-dog fundraising day for Archie in Term 2.
  • The fun and exciting school disco that will take place in Term 3.
  • Celebrating ‘odd sock day’ for Mental Health in October.

We cannot wait to work with the Karoo students and wider community in 2023!
