Aussie Hoops Program

The Year 3 and 4 students are now halfway through the Aussie Hoops Program and they are thoroughly enjoying learning about the fundamentals of basketball from a range of accredited coaches. This has proved to be a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about the game of basketball, maintain a physically active lifestyle and enjoy spending quality time with their peers.

Please note the session times for this week have now changed due to World Maths Day activites taking place during Session 4 and 5. The revised times are:

  • Year 4 (9:00 - 9:50am)
  • Year 3 (9:50 - 10:40am)

The Aussie Hoops Program will conclude on Thursday 30th March.

Karoo Whole School Cross Country

Thank you for supporting our whole school Cross Country on Thursday 9th March. It was great to see so many of you attend the event to cheer on your child, as well as encourage the other students during their race. I am privileged to be the Physical Education Teacher at Karoo with students who strive to achieve their personal best, demonstrate tenacity and show kindness towards others. The Karoo school values were certainly on display, and for that, I am extremely proud.

I would like to extend my thanks to all of the teachers who are so committed in preparing their students for the races, supporting them throughout the event and working behind the scenes to organise labels and race numbers. To the parent helpers, it simply wouldn't be possible without you. Thank you for taking time out of your own lives to assist with the organisation and running of the event. I cannot express how grateful I am for your support. Well done to all of the students who participated in the Cross Country.

Certificates and invitations to District Cross Country will be presented at a whole assembly with the date to be confirmed as soon as possible. All students who have progressed through to District Cross Country will compete on Friday 5th May at Jells Park

Division Swimming Competition

On Friday 10th March I had the absolute privilege of driving to Croydon Memorial Swimming Pool to watch Mitchell H (5D) and Aden T (6M) compete at the Division Swimming Competition. Mitchell competed in the 8, 9 & 10's age category for backstroke, whereas Aden competed in the 12/13's age category for backstroke. Mitchell finished 3rd in his event and Aden finished in 2nd place. Both students performed exceptionally well and represented Karoo Primary School with enormous pride. I am so impressed with the way both students competed in their individual events, but even more importantly, how they conducted themselves at the finish line. To perform at the Division Swimming Competition is a wonderful achievement and I would like to thank both students for their outstanding effort.

Aden will now progress to the Eastern Metropolitan Region Finals on Friday 24th March at Aquanation Ringwood. I wish Aden all the very best of luck for this event!
