On Monday 19 April the GSSC Library team visited the Hawdon Street site and we were amazed to actually see what was being done from within the space itself. While much work still needs to be completed the exciting new learning precinct is really beginning to emerge. Following our visit we spent the remainder of the day, as a team, completing an analysis of the functional and operational needs of the three libraries, one in each Neighbourhood.  We will be having further meetings with Project Management in coming weeks.

The library preparation for the transition to Hawdon Street started in earnest in February this year.  We have meetings every two weeks to manage the move. Our work covers rationalization of resources within the three existing campus libraries, to best support teaching and learning on the new site, as well as organization of the floor space in each neighbourhood library to allow staff and students to enjoy the area as a learning space, a 'safe' space at lunchtimes and an event space for celebrations and acknowledgement of important events. We are also working with Domains to support them in the rationalization of their resources. This work is ongoing.

To this end we are also focused on supporting GSSC students and families – we are ensuring that whatever we don’t take with us to Hawdon Street is put to good use as students are able to select books they would like to keep for themselves.
