Grade 6s Tour new GSSC

More than 40 staff and students from local primary schools toured the new Greater Shepparton Secondary College on Monday 26th April to get a taste of what “big school” will be like in 2022. Tour groups were taken inside the new double gymnasium, the Enterprise and Innovation Centre and one of the three Neighbourhood buildings. 

Each of the Neighbourhoods feature three Houses – small “schools within a school” of 300 students across all year levels. A student’s House will be their home throughout secondary school and as they advance into senior years, students increasingly take advantage of the many pathways and learning opportunities only a big school can provide.

The prospective Year 7 students asked some great questions and were keen to see their own classrooms and specialist learning spaces on the top floor of each House. These adjoin roof-top garden areas unlike anything seen in our existing primary or secondary schools. The students also appreciated how they will have their own locker spaces, toilets and lunch areas!
