Assessment & Reports

One area of our Teaching program that we have been working hard on this year are our student school reports.  Our aim is to keep parents and carers informed about the progress of their children. Some of the key ways that we do this throughout the year includes our:

Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews

Student Effort Assessment (SEA) Reports

Common Assessment Task (CAT) Feedback

End of Semester Reports

We really appreciated the conversations we had with parents for Parent/Student/Teacher interviews and would love to keep those conversations going. We strongly believe that our whole community can work together to support the students of Greater Shepparton Secondary College. Here are some key updates that might be of interest for you.

Student Effort Assessment (SEA) Reports have been updated!

A Student Effort Assessment (SEA) report is about providing parents with information about how their child has been progressing throughout the term. In this report we focus on four main areas :

Personal Learning Growth

Completion of Learning Tasks

Attitude to Learning

Managing Personal Learning

Students are given a rating out of four for each area, in each subject. This means our parents can see which subjects their child is putting effort into, and which subjects may need more effort and attention.

During Term 1, our staff have had the opportunity to review and refine our descriptions of the four main areas listed above. Our aim was to have clear guidelines for how a student can get a 4/4 for each area, in each subject. We also wanted students to be able to see what they could do next time, to get a higher score.  Please see the Rubric Report below: (Click on the image to enlarge)

Access the SEA reports on Compass

The SEA reports will be available to parents on Friday 21st May from 5pm. You can access these reports via our Compass Portal. To access them go to https://gssc-vic.compass.education/ and login using your details, or your child’s. If you need help with this please call the school.  Once you are logged in you will see a screen similar to this:

Please click on the ‘View Academic Reports’ link and it will take you to the next screen:

From here you can click on the report title (in blue) and you will be able to download your child’s report. These are the same steps you would use to access your child’s end of semester reports. These will be available on Friday 25th June from 5pm.

Additional Support for Understanding our Reports - Multicultural Information Night

For any parents interested in attending our Multicultural Information Night on Tuesday 18th May, our Assessment & Reporting Team along with translators, will be available to help parents. We will be sending information out in upcoming weeks, so that parents can book translators to help them read the reports.

Parent Morning Tea's

We invite all of our parent community to share their insights with us, about reports, through our upcoming Parent Morning Tea's on each Campus this term (dates to be confirmed) through the following contacts on each Campus:

McGuire Campus: Ian Goldrick, Teaching and Learning Assistant Principal

Mooroopna Campus: Stacie Lundberg, Teaching and Learning Assistant Principal

If you would like more information about your child, after receiving their reports, we encourage you to contact their Learning Mentor or classroom teacher.

Our staff are passionate and keen to partner with you to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all our students.
