McAuley

McAuley in review 2022

McAuley has had an amazing year across all aspects of school life and the broader community. McAuley won the Athletics Carnival, with many students within our house going to the Diocesan Carnival, and even making it further to NSWCCC! These students are highly commended on their abilities, and as a house we were incredibly proud of them. Additionally, we also won the Novelty games trophy at the athletics carnival.

The introduction of PACC groups this year has been proven to be a great success and has allowed for our school community to become more tightly knit as we interact with different year groups than our own. McAuley 4 was proven to be the most involved PACC group at the athletics carnival, receiving a free BBQ for their efforts. All PACC groups explored Together in Mercy and the aspect of service during PACC lessons, with this in mind PACC 1 invited the local firefighters to a luncheon to show appreciation of the work they provide in the community.

Throughout the year, there have been a number of notable events that students in McAuley have participated in, both within and outside the school community. Most recently, Hannah Renton took part in Lion’s Youth of the Year and received the title of best public speaker. Millie Taylor also participated in the Gunnedah Rotary Public speaking competition speaking on the topic of ‘You only live once.’ Ava Wilson in Year 10 is another student of McAuley who does work experience each Friday at Lil Achievers, where she works hard to succeed in what she is passionate about. Breeana Ward in Year 12 played for a representative AFL team called the Blue Heelers, playing in Coffs Harbour. Emmy Maher, Clare Canham, Cally Swain, Sienna Sams, Aleisha Doolan, Cloey Kook, Neiva Walton, Alyssa Wise, and Tahnee Steele took part in the Gunnedah Eisteddfod sharing their talents through public speaking, music and drama.

The Exhibition Night and Soiree was a great success and countless McAuley students’ artworks were displayed, as well as many of their talents shining through the musical and drama performances.

What an spectacular year for McAuley and we commend all students on a tremendous effort. We look forward to your continuous involvement, commitment and support of this amazing house. Go McAuley!
