Mercy

Mercy in review 2022

Mighty Mercy has had a wonderful year involved in many school and extracurricular activities. We were triumphant at the Swimming Carnival taking home the highest point score and many age champions. Many students then achieved at Diocesan level and then progressed onto NSWCCC.

In April all the Mighty Mercy PACC classes organised and ran a very successful fundraiser for Catholic Missions, involving a number of food stalls with Red being the significant colour. Whilst we were unlucky not to take home the highest point score of the Athletics carnival, we still need an investigation into this. We did have a number of Mercy students break school records that had been held for many years and went on to achieve success at a state level.

Mighty Mercy did achieve the trophy for Cross Country. In most years we had students rank in the top 3 which was amazing. They then went on to participate at the Diocesan level and then on a larger stage at Eastern Creek.

Many of the groups have carried out “Pay It Forward” activities such as hot chocolate for other PACC groups. Mercy 5 cooked shortbreads for each other and Mercy 4 were named as the PACC group that had the best participation at the Athletics carnival and were rewarded with freshly cooked bacon and egg rolls for breakfast.

Mercy students have had great success in the chess competitions this year taking out many regional events and the Mercy students have played a pivotal role in the success of the band at both the Tamworth and Gunnedah eisteddfod, winning gold in every event. Our Mercy students featured highly in “ The Exhibition” which is the showcase of the Creative Arts and Technology faculties.

A large number of our Mercy students have received numerous “Living Well and Learning Well” commendations this year with many achieving over 5 in one term resulting in further acknowledgement with a canteen voucher. This is wonderful to see that our students are respecting each other and their learning environment.

The sports competition has been tightly contested this year and the junior Mercy team was elated at taking out the League Tag and Netball competitions. We wait in anticipation at the final points score at the end of the term.

I would like to thank the many Mighty Mercy students that have helped out recently with our “Mental Health Month” activities. We are currently donating Christmas goods to be delivered to St Vincent De Paul for their annual appeal. I look forward to a large contingency of Mighty Mercy students coming to support the final extracurricular activity for the year that being the “Carols on the Convent”. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday and look forward to a Mighty Mercy in 2023.
