Sporting Highlights
Last Friday the Senior Girls Badminton Team, Natthakamon SAKAEKLANG, Maneekan WORRAKA, Alex NGUYEN, Keanna MAGBANUA, Sze Ying LUI, and Sena AMAMIYA travelled to Kilsyth to compete in the Regional Badminton Finals. After a narrow loss to Box Hill High School, we had tough games against eventual winners John Monash Senior Secondary and Lilydale Heights Secondary. The girls played some great Badminton and look forward to coming back and having another chance next year as Year 12’s.
On Tuesday the Senior Girls Basketball Team, Lauren Robinson, Melanie Robinson, Mollie Darby-Xuereb, Mikala Corrin, Holly Shadwell, Taylor Virgona and Breeanna Partridge-Spurr travelled to MSAC having won the right to play for the State Finals in the Victorian College Championship Basketball Finals. The girls played well losing in the semi- final to eventual Champions St Monica’s College. The girls finished third in the State, congratulations to Lauren and Mel who have competed in 3 State Titles in a row.
On Thursday the Intermediate Boys Basketball team, Jack Burns, Ben Darby-Xuereb, Darcy Kairys, Riley Olsen, Luke Osborne, Kyle Walker, Cooper Weiland-Dunkinson and Jet Wiesner travelled to MSAC having won the right to play at the State Titles for Intermediate Teams in the Victoria College Championships for Basketball. This was outstanding as this group of Year 9 boys knocked out several Year 10 teams. This also made the finals tough, but a great learning experience that we hope they can repeat next year as Year 10’s. The boys finished with a 1 win and 2 loss day finishing the championships as the 9th best school. Fantastic effort. Thanks also to Mr Paul Graham who coaches the team.
