Principal's Report

Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Students & Staff

Welcome back to Term 3 and the beginning of a new semester.  On Friday your Year 7-10 child will receive their Semester One Report.  Please take the time to read through the Report with your child and reflect on the progress they have made.  Setting new learning goals together for semester two is a positive way to encourage your child to constantly seek improvement in their learning.

Fairhills is focused on engaging the school community more widely.  So far this term we have had two events that have received enormous parent support.  On Friday 21st July over 150 people attended the Musical Trivia night. This function was a significant fund-raising event for the up-coming Musical Production.  On Wednesday 26th July we held our Year 7 Celebration evening in conjunction with  the “Resilient Families” Quiz night.  An incredible audience in excess of 200 people attended the evening.  We look forward to your continued support of the educational opportunities of your children.

The Department annual Parent Survey is to be conducted with a sample of randomly selected parents.  The revised parent Survey for 2017 seeks parent opinion on measures of school climate, student engagement, and effective teaching practice all of which are known to influence student engagement and student outcomes.  Fairhills HS will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The 2017 survey will be conducted online and will take only 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the period from Monday 7th August to Sunday 27th August.

The survey is administered from a secure online survey portal.  The benefits of this will be:

  • Parents can complete the survey from any device connected to the internet at a time convenient to them throughout the survey period.
  • Schools will be able to access the survey results from the portal, shortening the turnaround time for the results.
  • Schools no longer need to manage and return paper forms.

We would greatly appreciate your support in the completion of this survey if you are randomly selected to participate. Participants will be notified shortly.

We look forward to a highly successful Term 3 by constantly seeking ways to improve the learning opportunities and outcomes of our students.
