School Production News

NEWSFLASH

Little Shop of Horrors is nearly here!!!

The Holidays

Little does anyone know how much work has been happening over the holidays, and since, to produce another high class production for Westall Secondary College.

Students attended a 3-day rehearsal period at Nazareth College, which Adrian Hogg and I ran, and Narelle (set designer, costumes and props) was there to plot the set size.  This gave the students an opportunity to work with the theatre where they will be performing in on the 5th & 6th of September .

Since the Holidays

There have been intense rehearsals for the students, and a huge amount for work for the teachers, who have been involved in the completion of sets: Mr. Ralph Richardson  and Ms. Helen Ifandis.

Thanks to Narelle Tabone’s brilliant ability to envisage all the sets, as it moves through the performance, we will be looking at the BEST, with attention to detail which can be seen on the professional stage. Last week we collected the puppets, which are an integral part of the “Little Shop of Horrors”.

They are works of art and the students are very privileged to work with them. The Puppets are called “Audrey 2”.  On Monday 5th August, the puppeteer who built them will attend the school to instruct us how to get the best from “Audrey 2”.

Fundraising

On Voting Day, we made a profit of $480 from the sausage sizzle, which has gone to the budget of “Little Shop”. Many thanks to Mr. Rodger Clark and the VCAL students for their organisation and support on the day.

Years 9 & 10 have taken the theme of “Little shop of Horrors” for their cooking classes and have prepared fabulous fruit cakes and decorated them beautifully in this theme. The students have generously given them to the production for fundraising.  On August 21st at 2.45pm, Barry Plant will conduct an auction of these cakes in the school gym. Students, teachers and parents are invited to come along. Bring your cash or card, have some fun and support Westall and the production!
