The Term 3 Inter School Sports were Table Tennis, Basketball and Handball. Senior Table Tennis were the first team to compete with the Senior boy’s progression to the region stage, where they unfortunately fell short. Nevertheless, they enjoyed their two days out of school. The Senior boys A and B basketball teams were in action at Dandenong stadium, where they both showed lots of character and team spirit throughout the day. Unfortunately, neither team progressed to the region stage of the competition with the A team narrowly missing out in their last game. The boys and girls handball teams were in action at Casey Stadium where the girls beat Cranbourne Secondary College to win the day.
The Year 7 sports days took place on the 15th of August, with a number of successful teams. The girls and boys table tennis teams took on Cranbourne West at Dandenong Tennis Association where both the Boys and Girls ‘A’ teams progressing through to the region stage of the competition in Term 4. The boys basketball team remained unbeaten all day and will also progress to the region stage of the competition in October. The girls unfortunately narrowly missed out but really enjoyed the experience of playing against the other schools in the division for the first time. The handball teams also relished the opportunity to represent the college for the first time. The Year 7 Region Badminton team definitely brought the vibes to Springers Leisure Centre, singing all the way to the venue. The girls got off to a perfect start winning all their games against Cheltenham SC. Unfortunately, they came unstuck against some really talented opposition in Keysborough and McKinnon SC in their last 2 games. The girls didn’t let this dampen their spirits supporting and encouraging each other the whole time. It was great to watch, thanks for a great day girls. We will go again next year!
The Year 8 teams participated on the 23rd of August where the table tennis teams travelled to Dandenong. All teams had a fun day out and represented the college superbly. The Boys will represent the college at the region stage of the competition in October. Despite not qualifying for the region stage, the girls put in some excellent performances. The table tennis and handball teams enjoyed the day out competing with their friends, however, unfortunately will not progress to the region stage of the competition in Term 4.
The intermediate basketball teams dominated the division stage, both qualifying for the region stage of the competition in Term 4 showing superior skills and teamwork. The Intermediate boys and girls table tennis teams will also progress to the region stage of the competition finishing on top at the division stage, after some close fort games. The handball teams took to the field at Casey Stadium where they relished playing in some tight games.
60 Students took to the track and field at Casey Fields Athletics track for the SSV Division Athletics. The students savoured the opportunity to represent the college on what was a beautifully sunny day. It was great to see students cheering and supporting one another. The highlight of the days was Pavneet Birring setting a new Casey record for Discuss, with a huge 30m throw. With a number of medals won throughout the day we look forward to the region stage of athletics taking place in Term 4. Congratulations to all the students who demonstrated responsibility and respect all day.
