BOOK WEEK

Just as a heads up. St Patrick's Primary will be celebrating Book Week in mid Term 3. We will be having our Grandparents Day during this week as well as hosting a Book Fair and who could not forget our annual costume parade. More information has been provided in Mr Hyatt's section of this newsletter.

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE

This year St Pat's students will be participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge. Please keep an eye out in your child's bag for their username and password. You will need these login details to log their books online. Thanks Mrs Healey for organising all of this and sending the details home last week.

We have many listed books in our collection in the school library, and we will be encouraging children to borrow these books during library time. Listed books can also be borrowed from the town library, or you may even have them already in your collection at home. You must complete your online Student Reading Record by 19 August 2022 (11:59 pm) to complete the Challenge.  Participation is not compulsory, but is highly encouraged. Children who complete the challenge will receive a certificate of completion.

SORA - The Digital Library

SORA the school’s digital library. The Armidale Catholic Schools Office provides access to a large number of ebooks and audiobooks that can be accessed through the SORA reading app. This free app can be downloaded onto devices or accessed through their website (click on the link). YOUR CHILD WILL NEED THEIR SCHOOL USERNAME & PASSWORD TO ACCESS THIS APP.  The children use their username and password on their devices at school.

Once you’ve found the App, you will need to search for the ACEN library (Australian Catholic Education Network) and then enter your child’s school username and password when prompted. The books your child can access are filtered by their school login details which means younger students are unable to view secondary texts. For a quick video tutorial of how to use this App, watch the video here

There is a section for PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE BOOKS for each year level. The children can borrow & read books for the PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE during the holidays on SORA.

Happy reading!
