The Musicals!

This term started with our very successful College Musicals, held for the first time in the College’s history at the Wagga Civic Theatre. For the first week of term, all of our Junior School students, and over 100 of our Secondary School students shared their talent, time, energy and love of the arts with our community. Our Junior School presented Seussical Jnr! at 5.00 each evening, guided by Director Miss MacDiarmid with assistance from our generous and ccommiteed Junior School team. Then our Secondary School took to the stage to present Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at 8.00pm each evening. Our Charlie actors were lucky to have the experience of working with professional actor and TRAC parent, Wayne Pigram, who mentored and guided our students to high levels of performance and professionalism. We thank Mr Pigram for his expertise, and feel so fortunate to be able to engage with a member of our parent community in this forum. Our vocal teacher, Meredith Adams, also provided vocal coaching for our Charlie singers. We thank Meredith for her contribution to our show.

When we sat down to map our goals for the College Musical this year, we endeavoured to create something of excellent standard, with valuable educational outcomes for our students, in a positive learning space, which was fun and challenging. I think we achieved these goals.

Looking to the future, we will separate our Musicals and produce them in alternate years. Anticipate the next Junior School Musical in 2023, and the next Secondary School Musical in 2024. But don’t worry, we have plenty of plans for everyone in 2023, with an opportunity for Years 7 - 9 to have their own variety showcase, and Years 10 - 12 to present a drama production.

A list of our Musical participants and some photos of our shows are below.

Some of our students participated in the Combined Schools Orchestra, playing Barber of Seville by Rossini.
