IB Update

Year 12

Nearly there! Our Year 12 IB students have completed trial examinations and their final internal assessment work. It has been a busy term, with teachers witnessing evidence of the significant effort and growth students have made in their learning over the two-year journey. This week we uploaded their Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge Essay and English HL Essay as the first of the assessment work sent to the IB for external assessment. An exciting moment for each student and a wonderful sense of pride to acknowledge the work they have completed.

This week our community will celebrate the graduation of our Year 12 students at The Riverina Anglican College, but the journey does continue for a little longer. Students will return to school in week 1 next term for examination preparations, with the final IB Examinations starting Monday 24th October and running until Friday 11th November. We wish all of our graduating students all the best for their celebrations and final preparations.

Year 11

Our Year 11 IB students have also had a busy term. They have completed yearly examinations, CAS projects and internal assessments. Last week the students participated in the Group 4 Project. This is a collaborative science-based project aimed to provide students an opportunity to consider the environmental, social and ethical implications of science and technology. As our inaugural project, students explored the issue of living outdoors. They considered the conditions experienced by homeless people and explored how science can provide simple solutions for maintaining warmth, health, nutritional needs and shelter from the elements. They camped out on a miserable night, investigating first-hand the challenges faced by homeless people in our community, with perhaps a few extra comforts. Well done to all students for their insightful investigations. A big thank you to Mr Mitchell Kingsland and Mrs Megan Bromley for leading this experience.
