Jump Rope For Heart

Being active is one of the most important ways that children can improve their health and wellbeing. This term, through our PDHPE lessons we’ve been taking part in the Jump Rope For Heart program. I could not be more proud of the fundraising efforts of our K-6 students but more importantly the persistence and determination of each student to improve and learn new skipping skills.

The Heart Foundation is a charity dedicated to fighting the single biggest killer of Australian’s - heart disease. Our skipping has helped raise over $8300 which will go directly towards lifesaving heart research.

I would like to extend my sincerely thanks to the TRAC community for supporting our students and for making such generous donations to the Heart Foundation.

Swim School and Water Safety Program

Over the last two weeks of term, K-3 students participated in a swim school and water safety program at the Wagga Wagga Swim Hub. The 10 day intensive swimming and water safety program is part of the PDHPE curriculum and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival. On the first day of the program, students were grouped based on swimming experience and ability. The program develops water confidence, improves stroke efficiency and aims to develop the practical skills and knowledge to keeping safe in the water.

Our students! Our students loved getting in the water everyday and displayed great organisation skills getting changed, catching the bus and taking care of their belongings. Well done to the 130 of you!

I would like to say a huge thank you and express my gratitude to all classroom teachers and teachers aids for their help in running the program.

Due to wet weather the Trent Barrett Shield was postponed this term and will now be played on Tuesday 18 October.
