Lily Lorimer won a Bronze Medal in the 14yrs 50m Backstroke.

Tom had a great expereince at this high level meet gaining a personal best in his event the 50m  freestyle. Well done Tom.

Both girls have now progressed to National All Schools which occurs on the 3rd  of June.

U14 Boys Rugby League

Last Thursday our U14 Boys Rugby League team travelled down  to Tamworth, to compete in the Alan Tongue 10’s Finals Day. Past NRL players, Alan Tongue, Kurt Gidley, Josh Morris and Taniela Tuiaki were in attendence. In perfect conditions on a picturesque Scully Park, eight schools particpated in three age divisions. Having the privilege of playing the first game on this pristine arena, O'Connor took on Farrer. With minimal training opportunities, due to this current weather event, O'Connor went down 3 tries to 2 in a great performance. Our next game was against our Diocesan cousins, Holy Trinity, and was played in fantastic spirit, with the U14 boys scoring 4 tries to 2. The final game of the day was against the eventual champions, St Josephs Aberdeen, who, with a much bigger and well trained outfit, only beat us by a few tries. Ben Kaberry scored the first try. A highlight of the day was when the boys met the above ex NRL Superstars, who spoke about their journey from junior football to the NRL. It was a pleasure to be involved with our young men, who were great ambassadors for our College today. An  NRL Development Officer commented on how impressed he was with how our team played, and their improvement with each game. Thanks to Mr Ross Conlon for coaching and Mr Jon Hawthorne  for his assistance throughout the day.

Futsal

Last Tuesday, our Senior Girls played in the Finals Day of the PLC Futsal Competition. One of seven teams our students played three games and came away victors in all three. Eleven goals were scored in total and only one conceded due to Poppy McKay's brilliance as goal keeper. Thankyou to Mr Jim Healy for supporting the girls as coach every Tuesday afternoon this term and to Mr Honeysett for his assistance also. Well done girls.

National Athletics Championships

The 2022 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics Championships was held from the 26 March to the 3 April and Brooke Newberry competed in the U16 3000m Race Walk. In a field of 16 athetes, Brooke came a close 12th with a time of 16:24.62 following a very close finish with a Victorian Race Walker in their battle for 11th position. Only 0.14 of a second separated the pair.  Brooke will continue to train in preparation for the CCC athletics season and  any other NSW Athletics competitions to be held throughout the year.

Girls Rugby League

Our girls rugby team traveled to Bingara on Thursday and participated in a skills development program. In addition to leaning important tackling and passing skills, the girls participated in a non competitive gala day, playing well.
