Cecchetti Classical Bursary Award 2022
VCASS Alumni, Laura Griffiths was the Senior winner of the Cecchetti Classical Bursary Award 2022 in London. It has also been announced that Laura is a 2022 recipient of the Marten Bequest worth $50,000. I am proud that I was able to furnish her references for both being Coordinator of the Cecchetti@VCASS Program.
It is wonderful to see VCASS alumni make great contributions to the arts on a global level and totally respect the great training they have attained at VCASS.
Last month I had the pleasure of seeing the Australian Ballet School in Morning Melodies. To my delight I saw eight VCASS alumni gracing the stage. In Level 8, recent graduate Josh Ballinger danced alongside Tom Umseher, James MacDonell, Luca Deller and Hannah Lukey, while Tom Boddington, Charlie Tough and Ethan Mrmakovski were featured in works for Level 7. It was obvious that the versatile training that these dancers received here at VCASS has given them the edge to be the future of dance here and abroad! Further from home, Alberta Canada to be exact, Michael Scott-Kahans has just completed his first season with the Alberta Ballet Company, performing in Cinderella. He will be returning to Canada later this year for another season. Another big congratulations to Rebecca Blenkinsop for her promotion to First Artist at the English National Ballet Company, London.
