Artwork by Marina Yamazak Year 12 Student 2022

Shortlisted for Top Arts

Year 12 Studio Arts student Marina Yamazaki has been shortlisted for next year’s upcoming Top Arts. Top Arts is the National Gallery of Victoria’s annual exhibition that celebrates the exceptional work of students who have completed VCE Art or Studio Arts. Selection is based on key criteria including conceptual development, technical excellence, aesthetic considerations, individuality and innovation.

This year Marina created two artworks exploring the theme of disturbance, with a focus on intrusive thoughts. Through her use of various textures and acrylic paints, she has created a chaotic and abstract aesthetic contrasting the portrait within the large scale canvas.

We wish her good luck with the final selection process!

Year 7 Peace Poster Art Competition

On Friday 9th of December, the representative from Lions Club Francis Page, attended Blackburn High School to award Elizabeth Marion a certificate and gift voucher for the 2022 Peace Poster Competition.

The theme this year was ‘Lead with Compassion’ and Elizabeth’s poster came 3rd during the District Judging night a few weeks ago.  This is a massive achievement for Elizabeth and we are super proud of her enthusiasm for Art.  Congratulations!
