WHAT’S NEWS in Physical Education?

That time we all got to learn TAEKWONDO!

For the past five weeks, all classes across the school have been lucky enough to have two Taekwondo training sessions with Mr. Russell Trainor and Sensei Gabby!  The lessons have been a valuable addition to our Physical Education program as it has taught our students the basic principles, skills and history of this ancient form of martial arts.

Both Russell and Gabby come with a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in the area of Taekwondo.

Throughout the lessons, students were challenged to stretch and perform movement and movement patterns with their bodies that they may not have undertaken before.  It was brilliant to see everyone achieving success and feeling pride in their abilities to defend themselves with these new moves.

We are pleased to report that both teachers and children had a FABULOUS, FANTASTIC and FUN time running, blocking, kicking, punching and dodging during the awesome sessions!

At the conclusion of the lesson, students were offered a brochure on Trainor Taekwondo Academy.  The martial arts school currently has over four hundred members with a range of classes available to suit everyone.  If you would like more information and did not receive a brochure, contact details for Russell or his wife, Janine are available below.

Prospective students are advised to contact either Janine or Russell directly to ensure that you are enrolled into the most suitable class. Please phone Janine on 0418 448 111, or Russell on 0438 448 111. Please note that we teach from 4pm each day and also in schools through the day so that if we are not available when you ring, please leave your contact details.

GOLF CLINICS

Our annual Year 5/6 Golf Clinics with Tony Collier have got off to a great start with perfect weather last Friday. These clinics run over two weeks where Tony will choose students to represent Miners Rest at a Golf tournament later in the year. It is fantastic to see the improvements students are making in just one session with Tony.
