Performing Arts

Welcome Back!!! Term 2 promises to be a very exciting term for Performing Arts.

Firstly, auditions for MPGT are starting this week with Foundation and Year 1/2 students auditioning first.  Students will be told their call day and time so they do not have to worry about missing out.  The final will be held on the last Wednesday of term.  Students that are selected for the final will perform in front of their peers and panel of judges to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  The areas the judges will be focussing on are creativity, audience appeal, skill and entertainment value.  I wish all the students the best for the auditions and praise them for their courage.

Secondly, this Term, all 3/4 students will be heading into the city on an Arts excursion.  On Thursday 19th May, Year 3/4 will head to Hammer Hall at the Arts Centre to watch the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra perform.  After the performance and a stroll down Southbank the students will head to The Lume Gallery featuring interactive digital displays of Van Gogh's best work. This will be a day full of new learning experiences, cross curricular learning and an appreciation of the Arts.

Lastly, in the classroom foundation students will continue their musical journey with a focus on beat.  The Year 1/2 students will be creating class songs. Year 3/4 will be learning the in and outs of the orchestra and 5/6 will be busy choreographing group dances.  I look forward to sharing the students learning with you as the term progresses.
