Selamat siang!

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope you've all had a wonderful Easter break.

In the last week of Term 1, students used their writing sessions to reflect on their progress and make new learning goals for this term. We hope you were able to have a read of these in your child’s SeeSaw digital portfolio. In Reading, students focused on identifying different genres of texts and classifying accordingly, for example biographies, sports or fantasies. Then they focused on looking at the range of texts in their classroom library and reorganising it according to genre.

In Maths students displayed their understanding of 2-dimensional shapes to create an Easter hat. They were expected to describe the difference between regular and irregular shapes in addition to identifying lines of symmetry. Students proudly showed off their creative designs at our Easter hat parade which was a great way to end the term. We also had the whole-school Guided Inquiry Showcase. We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to see all the amazing work students completed whilst learning about different aspects to their identity. The Colour Fun Run was also a highlight of the term. We were so proud of the perseverance students showed to run as many laps of the course as they could.

This term promises to be another busy yet exciting term. All families have access to the term overview which outline the topics covered in each subject. Please contact your child's class teacher if you have any questions.

Have a wonderful week and a great term ahead,

Miss Chooi, Miss Richardson, Miss Wang, Mrs McCoy, Miss Tillotson and Miss Honan

Reminders

  • In preparation for the NAPLAN test in Week 3, can all Year 3 students please ensure they have a set of headphones at school which is compatible with their iPad.
  • This term we will be engaging in some science experiments. If you could bring in some 1-2L plastic bottles (soft drink bottles/milk bottles/juice bottles) and small plastic bottles/jars that would be greatly appreciated. There will also be a chance in Term 2 Week 2 for you to bring in any special rocks you may have found or collected so we can explore them in your classes!
