Principal's Report

Report from our Principal: Duncan Arendse

Dear Parents, Friends and Father Arsenio,

I was fortunate to attend a national Principals conference earlier this week. Pasi Sahlberg is an internationally recognised educator whom I was able to listen to. He poses three ideas to transform education. 1 Teacher looping, 2 Learning through better health and 3 Play as a child's right. These ideas were then elaborated on throughout. It was great to hear some fresh ideas for changing school dynamics after the past three years.

A number of experts at the conference were also quick to point out the harm of social media in the hands of primary aged students. Please do not allow access to your children. Given the spate of recent incidents we will not be dealing with events that take place out of school. I spoke with police at Ringwood last week. There advice is to a) not give children access and b) if you are concerned about content to speak with them.

Please  note that assembly will be held earlier on Friday. (9:15am) I am pleased that the Liberal Candidate  for Warrandyte, Nicole Werner, will be joining us at assembly to introduce herself. Feel free to join us and introduce yourself to her.

Our school closure day next week will focus on one of the key areas noted in our School Improvement Plan, namely Catholic Identity. Staff will be learning more about the Old and New Testaments with renowned lecturer Rose Marie Prosser as well as visiting St Patrick's cathedral for an informative tour session.

Have a great week

Duncan
