Orientation Days Concert Series

Encore students have missed the opportunity to deliver public performances this year, due to the restrictions brought to us by COVID. Performing is an integral part of music education. The act of preparing and delivering a performance gives students an experience of many of the typical drivers for psychological wellbeing: stress; challenge; achievement; barriers. Performing is an important feature of the Encore program, and we are pleased to able to offer the opportunity to perform to Encore students as part of the Junior School Orientation Concert Series. Encore students have been invited to perform, alongside some of our senior students. Permission notes have been sent home or emailed this week.

Band Camp

Yes, we can! And we will. We are planning a day-based camp at the College on the weekend of Friday, November 27 - Sunday, November 29 for members of the String Sinfonia, College Band and Stage Band. Sectionals with specialist tutors, food, activities, rehearsals, and to complete the camp, a video of each group which we will submit for the Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival Online event for 2020. We will also try to make an audio recording for future use. Permission notes will go out this week. 

Encore Year 8 2021

Entries are still open for Encore Year 8 2021, and places are filling up quickly. The Year 8 stream of this program is an incredible opportunity for students to really develop their confidence and polish in their playing. As we currently prepare for our Junior School Concerts, it has been wonderful to see our current Year 8 Encore evolve into strong players with the confidence to perform for others. The Encore program has built capacity in these students through the delivery of a nurturing, challenging and holistic music education program tailored to the individual needs of each student. I recommend the program highly to all Year 7s who wish to continue playing an instrument and develop their musicianship in the company of similarly skilled students.
